In 2006, a passion for clinical discovery and philanthropic spirit inspired Diamond Legacy Society members Donald J. Goodman, DMD and his wife, Ruth, to make one of the largest gifts in the history of University Hospitals. The Goodman Discovery Center within UH Seidman Cancer Center is named to honor the couple, now deceased, and their generous estate gift of nearly $35 million for clinical research and the pursuit of new therapies for cancer. The major gift from the Goodmans also provides funds for cardiovascular care and research within UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute.

Discover the Benefits of Giving Wisely

Did you know there are creative ways to support University Hospitals and you and your loved ones at the same time?

Such giving techniques are called "planned gifts," because with thoughtful planning, you create win-win solutions for you and University Hospitals. For example:

  • You can make a gift that costs nothing during your lifetime.
  • You can give stock and realize larger tax savings.
  • You can receive a quarterly check for life in return for your gift.
  • You can donate your house, continue to live there, and receive a tax break all at the same time.
